At the track.
No signal needed.
The free PURPL app for the laptop you take to the track. Sign in once at home, read every new session in the pits with no internet, and it syncs to your account when you are back online.
Version 0.1.0-beta.3 · 119 MB · released 17 October 2026
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit
What works offline
The honest list. Offline means no internet at all, which is also what a laptop has while it is joined to a MyChron's Wi-Fi.
Works offline
- The app opens and stays signed in.
- New sessions come in from the Race Studio 3 folder, by drag and drop, from the file picker, through Open with, and as Alfano ADA zips.
- Every analysis tab for that session: Overview, Laps, Telemetry, Braking, Grip, G-G, Friction, Lambda, Shift, Balance, Time spent, Engine, and your Driver DNA scores.
- Sections, sectors and the ideal lap, at tracks you have already driven with PURPL.
- Files with no lap beacon, at tracks PURPL already knows.
- Your Sessions list, as you last saw it.
- New sessions are saved on the PC and sync to your account later, with no duplicates.
- The sample session, and opening a file just to look at it, even before you sign in.
Coming in the next updates
- Every session in your account opens offline, not only the new ones.
- Home, Trends, Progression, Compare and Team.
- Data export.
- Deleting sessions, aliases, goals and focus while offline, synced when you reconnect.
Needs internet
- The AI: the AI report, the Race Engineer chat and voice notes, Batch Intelligence and Race Intel.
- The section map of a track PURPL has never seen. It is built when the session syncs.
- Your Driver DNA places against other drivers, added when the session syncs.
- Weather for sessions recorded offline.
- Satellite imagery you have not looked at before. Offline you get the GPS outline instead.
- Share links, payments and your account.
- Your first sign-in.
- The rare file the app cannot read on the PC, about 1 in 100. It waits, and is read when you are back online.
Anything that needs internet says so in the app, and is there when you are back online.
Logger by logger
| Logger | Version 1 | Later |
|---|---|---|
| MyChron 5 and 5S | Race Studio 3 folder pickup, and a direct Wi-Fi pull from the app | |
| MyChron 6 | Race Studio 3 folder pickup | A direct Wi-Fi pull, once it has been tested on a real MyChron 6 |
| Any AiM logger whose sessions are in Race Studio 3 (USB or Wi-Fi) | Race Studio 3 folder pickup | |
| Alfano 6 and 7 | ADA zip import | A direct pull from the logger is planned, with no date yet |
Early access is version 1 while it is being finished. Parts of it arrive in updates over the coming weeks, and the app installs them itself.
Windows will step in
Early access builds are not signed yet. A signature is how Windows knows who made an app, and ours is on its way. Until it arrives, Windows does not recognise PURPL. It may ask you to confirm before it runs the installer or, on some PCs with Smart App Control on, block it. The file is the one we publish on our release page on GitHub, which is where the download button takes it from.
If Windows asks you to confirm
- If your browser says the file is not commonly downloaded, choose Keep.
- Open it. Windows shows a blue window that says Windows protected your PC.
- Click More info, under the message.
- Check that the app is PURPL-Setup.exe (the publisher says Unknown publisher until our signature arrives), then click Run anyway.
PURPL installs for your Windows user only, so it does not ask for an administrator password.
If Windows says Smart App Control blocked an app
On some PCs with Smart App Control on, Windows blocks unsigned apps, with no Run anyway, and early access PURPL cannot run there yet. The signed version and the Microsoft Store version of PURPL will. Both are coming, but we do not have a date yet. Until then, PURPL works in the browser on that PC while you are online.
We will never ask you to turn Smart App Control, or any other security feature, off.
Questions
Where are my files?
The app keeps its data in %APPDATA%\PURPL on your PC. Sessions it downloads from a MyChron are saved as ordinary files in Documents\PURPL\Sessions, in a folder for each day, so Race Studio 3 can open them too.
Does it work with no internet at the track?
After you sign in once with internet, PURPL keeps working offline with no time limit, and syncs the next time you are online.
I use Race Studio 3. Can PURPL pick up my sessions?
Yes. PURPL watches the Race Studio 3 data folder (C:\AIM_SPORT\RaceStudio3\user\data), or another folder you choose, and imports new sessions on its own. The first time, it offers to import the last 7 days. It never imports the same session twice, and Race Studio 3 still opens its own files when you double-click them.
Several drivers share one laptop. Does that work?
In this first version the app holds one PURPL account at a time. To switch driver, sign out and sign in as the other driver, which needs internet. Let the sessions waiting on the PC sync first, so they land in the right account.
Is it free? How many sessions can I keep?
The app is free. The free plan holds 20 sessions in total, the same as on the web, and sessions added in the app count toward them. Pro has no limit.
Is there a Mac version?
Not yet. Windows comes first and Mac comes later. On a Mac, PURPL works in the browser while you are online.
Does it update itself?
Yes. When the PC is online, the app checks for a new version and installs it for you.
